How the sintering process happens

Sintering refers to the process of reducing the surface of powder particles and reducing the void volume of powder or compact under certain external conditions and sintering temperature below the melting point of the main components. In fact, during the sintering process, a series of physical and chemical changes such as volatilization of additives, recovery and recrystallization of deformed particles, material diffusion, flow, dissolution, compounding and alloying between particles also occur.
The sintering process of powder or compact is a heat treatment process, which includes a heating process, an isothermal sintering process at the sintering temperature, and a subsequent cooling process. But the general sintering theory mainly studies the isothermal sintering process. The sintering process is divided into sintering neck formation stage, sintering neck growth and closed cell formation stage, closed cell reduction and spheroidization stage.
