The structure of the oil filter
The oil filter is usually a tin can with an opening on one side that has threads to connect to the air compressor. Inside the filter is a paper filter element that has wave-like folds to create the largest possible surface area (so that the largest amount of oil can flow through). The oil filter usually contains a bypass valve. When the pressure difference is too large, the bypass valve opens, allowing the oil to flow through without filtering. Although it will be dirty, the oil can protect the machine from overheating and Excessive pressure will not occur.
Air compressor oil filter specifications:
Filtration precision: 5μm-25μm
Service life: 1500~2000h
Bypass valve opening pressure: 2.5Bar
Hazards of air compressor oil filter overtime use
1. Insufficient oil return, resulting in high exhaust temperature, shortening the service life of oil and oil separation core; leading to insufficient lubrication of the main engine, seriously shortening the life of the main engine;
2. After the filter element is damaged, the unfiltered oil containing a large amount of metal particles and impurities enters the main engine, causing serious damage to the main engine.
When to replace the oil filter
Replace it after the actual use time reaches the design life time. The design life of the oil filter element is usually 2000 hours. It must be replaced after expiration. If the environmental condition of the air compressor is poor, the use time should be shortened. It should be replaced immediately after the blockage alarm within the designed service life. The set value of the blockage alarm of the oil filter element is usually 1.0-1.4bar.
